The Monkees announce Upcoming Christmas Album

American pop-rock band The Monkees have just announced their forthcoming Christmas album Christmas Partydue for release October 12. Christmas Party is set to be their first ever holiday album and will be their thirteenth LP.

Forming back in 1965 for the US television series ‘The Monkees’, the show only ran between 1966 and 1968, and they only actively recorded music between 1966 and 1971. Since then however, The Monkees have enjoyed various revival tours and releases of greatest hits albums.

The Monkees have some real classics under their belts, and perhaps are best known for songs such as ‘I’m A Believer’, ‘Last Train To Clarkesville’, and ‘Daydream Believer’.

An immensely successful band, they sold 16 million albums in 1966 and 1967, with their debut album The Monkees topping the charts for 13 weeks, and their sophomore album More Of The Monkees holding the #1 position for 18 consecutive weeks.

All of Christmas Party’s thirteen tracks were recorded this year, with some tracks pulling recently deceased Davy Jones’ vocals from archives. ‘The Christmas Song’ and ‘Snowfall’ will feature Michael Nesmith on lead vocals, with each track being produced by one of his sons.
