The Cat Empire release 360-degree video for new single ‘Ready Now’

The Cat Empire have released their new single ‘Ready Now’ along with a 360-degree music video – the first instalment in monthly series that will see the band drop a single on the first day of each month for the rest of the year.

‘Ready Now’ heralds the unveiling of the band’s seventh studio album and coincides with another massive tour.

Directed by Riebl’s friend Dominic Allen, the ‘Ready Now’ clip was shot in 360 degrees, so viewers can choose their own unique view of the song, honing in on their favourite band member.

“’Ready Now’ began as an accidental one hand arpeggio on a keyboard with an obnoxious synth horn sound on,” Riebl said.

“It turned into a hard hitting and fairly epic sounding fanfare that sounds like a dark marching band in flight.  Lyrically it’s full of frustration and conflict, but the music gives it an edge of joy.”

The track blends the feel-good mix of horns and beats we’ve come to expect of the band, with a darker edge that hints at a new direction.

The cover image for ‘Ready Now’ was shot by photographer Sean Scott, the first of eight Australian photographers whose work will be showcased in each monthly track release.
