Stella Donnelly sweeps 2017 WAMAwards

Stella Donnelly has cleaned house at the 2017 WAMAwards, taking home 5 awards from her 6 nominations.

The Perth-based folkster picked up Best EP, Best Folk Act, Best Single, Best Female Vocalist and Most Popular New Act at the annual event which celebrates WA’s vibrant music scene.

Methyl Ethel also made a number of appearances, walking away with Best Album, Best Pop Act and Best Male Vocalist.

Returning favourites POW! Negro saw success for the second year running, grabbing Best Urban Act and Most Popular Live Act, while Ziggy Ramo took Best Hip-Hop Act and Best Indigenous Act.

This year’s ceremony also saw 80’s legends Eurogliders inducted into the Hall of Fame, alongside the late, great jazz visionary, Graham Wood.

The crowd in attendance were treated to performances from San Cisco, Harry Mitchell & Daniel Susnjar (Best Jazz Act), John Bennett & David Hyams, RAG N’ BONE, Nerve Quakes (Best Punk/Hardcore Act), and The Southern River Band.

WAMFest 2017 is far from over, and will kick on until Sunday with live music, conference events, showcases, food and family entertainment.
