Spoon’s ninth studio album is out today

Spoon‘s new album Hot Thoughts has finally hit the shelves via Matador and Remote Control Records.

The 10-track album follows the release of the title track single, which they performed on Jimmy Kimmel recently, and second single Can I Sit Next To You.

Hot Thoughts has launched preceding some shows the band will be doing in Australia. They will play a couple of stripped-back and intimate shows at Red Eye Records in Sydney on 22nd March and Polyester Records in Melbourne on 24th March, while also bringing the full setup experience to The Metro Theatre and The Croxton Bandroom.

The live shows are significant for band member Britt Daniel, who draws a lot of inspiration from the country when visiting, which he explained to American Way Magazine this month:

“I love going down to Australia, but it seems we’re never able to stay for long, so I rented a house in Collingwood outside Melbourne for three weeks. That’s where most of the songs on the new record got their start. I brought a bunch of unfinished songs with me. When I got down there, I was more excited about coming up with all new stuff. I’m not sure if it’s just the AC/DC connection or what. Australia just seems like this other world. It’s like this weird combination of Texas and England.”

Tickets to Spoon’s shows are available from Frontier Touring.
