Headliners: The Strokes lead the charge at this year's Splendour in the Grass music festival.

Splendour in the Grass lineup announced

The lineup for Splendour in the Grass 2016 has been announced, with this year’s festival to be headlined by New York rockers The Strokes.

They will be joined by The Cure (yep, you read that right), James Blake, Sigur Ros, Santigold, Jake Bugg, The Internet, At The Drive-In and more.

Flying the Aussie flag will be Flume, Courtney Barnett, Violent Soho, Hermitude,The Preatures, Gang of Youths, Illy, Matt Corby, Urthboy, Boy & Bear and The Avalanches, who will play a reunion show exclusively at Splendour.

Splendour in the Grass takes place from Friday July 22 to Sunday July 24 at North Byron Parklands, with around 100 acts taking part.

Beyond the music, the Splendour Forum will feature a series of panels and discussions with a lineup of guests including Q&A’s Tony Jones.

Talking not your thing? Head to Splendour in the Craft where you can create to your heart’s content or take in some contemporary performance, painting, video art or sculpture at Splendour Arts.

Festival organisers reckon they’ve improved the site since last year, with upgrades to pathways and drainage in an effort to avoid a repeat of last year’s mudfest.

You can get all the details via the Splendour in the Grass website.
