Rose Parker announces new record and WA launch party
WA songbird Rose Parker has returned with the announcement of a new record, Under The Same Sun, to be launched at a kicker event at Fremantle’s Fly By Night Club.
The new album was produced and recorded by the acclaimed duo of David Hyams and Lee Buddle, working out of Crank Recording in Northbridge, and features performances from such WA session cats as Lucky Oceans, Roy Martinez, Elliot Smith, Melanie Robinson and Phoebe Corke on strings, Mark Underwood, Harry Deluxe and Mel Bainbridge. Rose has also cut a duet with roots veteran Dave Mann, who offers up his distinctive vocal stylings and stellar slide-guitar work.
Under The Same Sun offers fans 12 tracks filled with Rose’s familiar blend of folk, alt country, gospel and blues, with dreamy, layered guitars, soaring, harmony-laden vocals, warm bass and whispers of Hammond organ. Those in the know are calling it “a sundrenched, 1970’s inspired road trip of an album, recommended to be played in a moving car with the windows down.”
The album launch will take place on December 10 in what is sure to be a packed out Fly By Night, where couches, Persian rugs, lamplight and Rose’s smooth vocals will welcome music lovers into a “Bohemian chill-out lounge” for the evening.
Be sure to grab your tickets to the launch party from the Fly By Night Club website.
