Rob Thomas joins A Day on the Green circuit

Rob Thomas will return to Australia in support of his first solo album in more than six years.

The Matchbox Twenty frontman will head down under in February next year following the release of The Great Unknown in August this year.

The tour will include a performance on the steps of at the Sydney Opera House, A Day On The Green in Queensland and Victoria, as well as headline shows in Melbourne, Perth and Canberra.

Thomas will also perform at the Clipsal 500 post-race concert in Adelaide on March 6.

Aussie singer-songwriter Pete Murray will support Thomas with Powderfinger’s Darren Middleton appearing at some shows.

It’s almost 20 years since Matchbox and Thomas became household names with hits like Push, 3am and Real World, and Thomas’ solo efforts continue to chart well.

He holds the title of the second-most played track on Australian radio of the past 15 years with Smooth, his Grammy-winning collaboration with Santana.

Tickets for the Great Unknown Tour will be on sale from 10am on Wednesday, November 25.
