Paul McCartney announces Australian tour dates for December
Paul McCartney has announced dates and venues for his Australian tour, set to take place this December.
Announcing the news in a Facebook Live event led by Tim Minchin, the Beatles star revealed he would be performing in stadiums and arenas in Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Auckland.
It will be the McCartney’s first tour down under since The New World Tour in 1993.
“We’ve been waiting to get back to Australia and New Zelaand for years and now it’s finally happening,” said McCartney.
“It is very exciting. I’m really looking forward to the concerts as we’ve always had such a brilliant time whenever we’ve been before so we know we are in for a treat. Can’t wait to see you all and all rock out together.”
Possibly the most successful band of all time, the Beatles have sold around 600 million albums worldwide with 1.6 billion singles sold in the US alone.
McCartney has released 24 albums as a solo artist and with his band Wings.
In 1997, he was knighted in 1997 for his services to music.
Pre-sale begins on Thursday June 29, and general tickets will be on sale from July 4.
