‘Nothing Compares 2 Prince’ to debut in Australia

Prince’s sister Tyka Nelson has announced that she’ll be heading down under to appear on stage in Nothing Compares 2 Prince: a celebration of the icon’s music, as performed by musicians who played alongside him.

Twelve of Prince’s closest band mates will be performing at the event, including the likes of St Paul Peterson, Shelby J and Cassandra O’Neil.

The event will premiere in Australia in commemoration of the two-year anniversary of his passing, with shows being held at the Sydney Opera House on April 27th and 28th, and at the Melbourne Hamer Hall on April 29th.

“I am very excited about coming to Australia to celebrate the life of my brother with you. Prince loved your country and enjoyed playing there!

“I look forward to joining the other wonderful singers and musicians on stage for Nothing Compares 2 Prince, and I hope to see and hug as many of Prince’s fans as I can off-stage!,” said Tyka in the official press release.

Nelson will be showcasing over four decades’ worth of hits from her brother, including classic songs ‘Purple Rain’, ‘1999’, ‘Little Red Corvette’, ‘Kiss’ and ‘Let’s Go Crazy’.

Classics tracks that Prince wrote for other artists will also be showcased, including ‘Manic Monday’ (for The Bangles), ‘The Glamorous Life’ (for Sheila E.) and, of course, Sinéad O’Connor‘s ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’.

Viewers will be lucky enough to also experience a never-before-seen tribute by Nelson to her late brother.
