Missy Higgins announces new shows for 2016

Missy Higgins has announced her first live shows in a year, with five east coast dates scheduled for February and March next year.

After taking a break to pursue motherhood, Higgins returns with new material and minus a baby bump.

“I’ve been slowly but surely writing new songs that I’m very excited about and can’t wait to record so I can share them with you,” Higgins told fans on her website.

Higgins said she was looking forward to getting back onstage after giving birth to baby boy Samuel in January.

She recently tested out new material in a short set at a fundraiser for music grant fund The Seed.

“It felt so good to be up on stage again playing (albeit without a big tummy-ledge to rest my ukulele on this time),” she said.

Higgins will play a special one-off show at Hamer Hall in Melbourne, with an exclusive pre-sale starting 9am EST Wednesday and tickets on sale to the general public on Friday October 30.

Good friend and Something for Kate frontman Paul Dempsey will provide support at most shows – a heck of a warm-up act, we have to say.
