Lily Allen returning to Australia for shameless new tour

The long wait is finally over – Lily Allen is coming back to Australia!

The formidable British pop star Lily Allen is set to make her return to Australia in February 2019 for four shows showcasing her recently released fourth album No Shame.

Australia has been starved of the singer’s presence since for four years.

Like a phoenix, No Shame marks the rebirth of Allen and is an open confessional album of songs that address the end of her marriage, being a mother, partying, making and losing friends, and ultimately reaching a sense of catharsis.

“There’s no shame in anything I’m saying,” Allen explains, in relation to the album’s title.

“When I started writing the record I was in a sad, dark place, and this record could almost be starting at midnight, and getting through to the end of the day. It’s been cathartic for me.”

“There’s no two ways about it. It starts in a dark place, for a reason, then ends up in a more optimistic place, for a reason.”

Allowing herself the time to hit the reset button, Allen took it back to the basics for No Shame, much like her first two albums Alright, Still (2006) and It’s Not Me, It’s You (2011).

“I can write half a great song then finish it off with some bullshit,” says Allen, “and I’ve done that, a lot of times.”

“But I’ve been able to sit here and get the bullshit away and make it as truthful as possible. That was my goal.”

Allen first captured attention with the single ‘Smile’ from her debut album, earning her GRAMMY, VMA and Brit Award nominations, whilst singles ‘The Fear’ and ‘F**k You’ from her second album winning her Brit Award for Best Female Solo Artist 2010.

At the beginning of the year Allen released the single ‘Trigger Bang’ (feat. Giggs), sparking the news of her imminent resurface to the charts.

Tickets for Lily Allen’s Australian tour go on sale Tuesday 11 September.
