Lil Uzi Vert shares new track ‘New Patek’
Lil Uzi Vert had been teasing the new song on Instagram and has been hinting at his new album Eternal Atake for a while now, and finally he has dropped his new track ‘New Patek’.
Uzi has been quiet with his own projects since last year’s Luv Is Rage 2, until this release.
This year we’ve heard a new song ‘Sauce It Up’, and tracks with multiple artists including Travis Scott’s ‘Watch’ with Kanye, Juice WRLD’s ‘Wasted’ and Playboi Carti’s ‘Bankroll’.
The track produced by Dolan Beatz sees Uzi rap about the flashy new wrist wear he’s copped as well as his sexual encounters.
The repetitive themes of watches and women circulate throughout the entire track, consuming verses and chorus.
The instrumental in the lengthy track – 5 minutes and 43 seconds to be exact – is built off a sample from a song from the anime series Death Parade, the song titled with the same name.
Listeners hear shout-outs to Naurto, WWE star Rey Mysterio and Drake with lines like, “I do not get in Canada, but when I’m in Toronto they treat me like Drake.”
At first listen the track doesn’t have the same grab as previous hits like ‘XO TOUR Llif3’ or 2016’s ‘You Was Right’, but after a few listen’s to his effortless flow and instinctive writing approach it the attachment to the song grows.
Overall, a great new track from Lil Uzi Vert, paving a promising path for new album Eternal Awake.
