John Butler Trio and Missy Higgins coming home with music history team up

Forget the Avengers: two of our favourite Aussie music icons are joining forces.

John Butler Trio and Missy Higgins are teaming up for an epic reunion this coming January and February to give Australia the Coming Home Tour.

The tour’s title comes from eagerly anticipated and imminent new album HOME from John Butler Trio – their first album in four years.

“This album touches on the anxieties and demons I’ve been grappling with since the last album,” says John Butler.

“But it’s also full of joy, hope and redemption, and I’m looking forward to conveying the stories and passion of all of this journey one on one live with fans.”

HOME features the brand new single ‘Just Call’.

“‘Just Call’ is an earnest love song I’ve had for 13 years which I was finally able to finish in these sessions.”

“This is the story of how I found my best friend and partner, out in a small town in the middle of nowhere, in a world of 7 billion people.”

The tour holds a special significance to it, as the two artists’ early careers were closely interwoven.

Higgins was supporting Butler at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion the very night her debut single ‘Scar’ hit #1.

The two won their first ARIA Awards as Best Male and Best Female artists in 2004 and 2005 respectively, and even shared their first Rolling Stone cover together.

“It will be so good to get out of the house and get back on the road alongside John and his band,” says Higgins.

“I have great memories of all those gigs I did with him when I was first starting out and it will be great to play some really special venues together again after all these years.”

The two icons will be supported by rising star Stella Donnelly at all shows, except Margaret River and Albany. Donnelly quickly captivated attention with her debut album Thrush Metal and defiant songs like ‘Mechanical Bull’ and ‘Boys Will Be Boys’.

Also bursting to the scene is ‘Cloud 9’ rapper Baker Boy will also be performing at the final show of the tour in Hobart.

This special team up promises to be an incredible and unmissable event, so don’t miss the opportunity to see both John Butler Trio and Missy Higgins reunite together and in full swing.

Tickets go on sale Friday 21 September.

HOME comes out Friday 28 September.
