Jeremy Loops announces new album and national tour
Jeremy Loops has revealed his new album, Critical as Water is set for release on March 16 and that he’ll be taking it down under for a huge national tour.
The theme of water runs throughout Loops’ album Critical As Water, with its premiere single titled ‘Waves’ setting a breezy, summer anthem feel to the release. With tracks like ‘Underwater Blues’ and ‘The Shore’, it is clear to see what Loops feels most connected to and draws his prime influences from.
“I grew frustrated trying to force the music because I knew the album was due, but one night after an incredible surf, I got home, picked up my guitar, and wrote ‘Waves.’ Coincidence or not, I became deliberate about scheduling time in the ocean as a means to writing the album and the songs just kept coming.”
Jeremy speaks of one of the main issues facing him and his home personally, the real water crisis in Cape Town, South Africa. It is on course to be the first major city in the world to run out of water, where taps will be turned off on 22 April 2018, seeing one of the major environmental crisises coming to a head. Tracks like ‘Flash Floods’ and ‘Vultures’ encompass these themes, bringing this worrying issue to light.
“It isn’t all doom and gloom. If anything, this is the most beautiful piece of music I’ve ever made and it’s warm and lush, but the joyful highs are tempered by the real urgency of the problems the world is facing.
“Times are always changing. We all have the innate ability to flow like water to adapt to it. I like that about life, and I especially like how that comes across on this album. It feels wonderfully rounded.”
Jeremy will also be taking his new album on an Australian tour, set for May.
