Florence and the Machine

Florence + The Machine will return to Australia for a headline tour in January

Florence + The Machine will return to Australia next January for their sixth Australian headline tour. The vocal powerhouse will visit capital cities across the country, including a special one-off open-air concert at The Domain in Sydney.

Aussie audiences last saw Florence Welch and her band in November 2015 for the How Big Tour, and this time the British star will be celebrating her new album High As Hope, due for release June 29.

Known for her mesmerising stage presence, Welch will take on arenas and outdoor venues starting at Perth Arena on January 12 and finishing up at The Domain in Sydney on January 26.

Florence + The Machine’s latest single ‘Big God’ is Welch at her enchanting best, and is the third single to be taken from the highly-anticipated fourth album.

Earlier this year, Florence + The Machine performed their brooding second single ‘Hunger’ on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

High As Hope takes a few risks while remaining true to Florence’s roots, and features collaborations with Kamasi Washington, Sampha, Tobias Jesso Jr, Kelsey Lu and Jamie xx.

Welch has described the album as “a pure expression of who I am now, as an artist, and an honest one”.

The 31-year-old continues to make waves with her poetic songwriting, orchestral arrangements and unique performance style.

First coming to worldwide attention in 2009, Welch has released three celebrated studio albums; Lungs (2009), Ceremonials (2011) and How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful (2015), spawning smash hits including ‘You’ve Got The Love’‘Dog Days Are Over’‘Shake It Out’ and ‘Spectrum (Say My Name)’.

Joining Florence + The Machine on their Sydney, Adelaide and Geelong dates will be 16-year-old sensation Billie Eilish whose current single, ‘lovely’ (with Khalid) has racked up more than 97 million streams.

Also supporting will be New Zealand indie-troubadour, Marlon Williams who has just completed a sold-out world tour for his sophomore album, Make Way For Love.

Tickets for the High As Hope tour will go on sale Friday June 29 at 12 noon local time.
