EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE: Olive’s new video and single ‘Senseless’

Following on from her joyous debut single ‘Changing The World’, Perth artist Olive is back with her second single, the moody, blues-infused ‘Senseless’.

The single and music video will be officially launched next week, but we’ve got a sneak preview just for you.

Taken from her forthcoming EP, Senseless’ finds Olive venturing into slow-burn territory, warmed by her enchanting voice.

Produced by Dylan Ollivierre (The Money War) and Matt Gio (Rada Studios), the song was first tracked in an industrial garage at the back of an inner city car park before being taken to the studio for further production and mixing.

Olive said the hook line of the song, “Senseless heart or senseless head”, was a line from a poem she wrote.

“Basically, that’s me weighing up the weight of my insanity on the head and heart scale, and which one I should or shouldn’t listen to,” she said.

The video is equally soul-stirring, set in a pine forest and featuring a preacher man, a 1966 Ford Falcon, and Olive (in her own words) “looking like a vampire bride”.

The singer hails from the iconic beachside suburb of Scarborough, with a little bit of Scarborough sunshine captured in everything she does. Even on the sultry ‘Senseless’, haunting lyrics are contrasted against sweet vocals and pop hooks.

Heavy on vivacious pop and with just a hint of Motown, Olive sounds like something old, yet something entirely new.
