Exclusive premiere: Nakatomi share new single ‘Old Flame’ and self-titled EP

Following on from last year’s euphoric taster track ‘Wooden Castle’, Adelaide pop duo Nakatomi have taken it to another level with their debut self-titled EP, featuring brand new single ‘Old Flame’.

The EP will be streaming exclusively on Music Insight all week ahead of its official release this Friday.

Em Smart and musical partner Hamish Cox are a powerful combination, with Nakatomi’s debut EP proving their epic skill as songwriters and producers.

The result is a beautiful, hook-laden blend that seamlessly connects the sounds of 80s nu-wave with 90s grunge and a generous helping of modern electro-pop.

Nakatomi is amassing an ever-growing fanbase thanks to their carefully crafted songs and high-energy live show, cementing them as one of the most exciting acts coming out of Adelaide.

It seems people are noticing, with the band recently nominated for Best New Artist (2016) and Most Popular Electronic Artist (2017) at the SA Music Awards as well as getting a nod from Rolling Stone as the magazine’s Pick of the Week.

The duo have put together an impressive production ensemble on this release, with JP Fung (Silverchair, Last Dinosaurs), Tony Buchen (Montaigne, Asta, East) and Mario Spate (Tkay Maidza, Mane) helping craft this glorious slice of electro-pop.

Srsly, this EP is your new jam and if you don’t believe us, have a listen for yourself.

Nakatomi will launch their debut EP at Ancient World on Friday, May 25 (supported by Melbourne’s Nussy).
