Categories revealed for the National Live Music Awards

The National Live Music Awards (NLMAs) have announced the official categories for their state/territory and national awards, with nominees due to be revealed on Monday, October 10.

The National Live Music Awards aim to recognise and celebrate the diversity and success of Australian live artists, awarding talented musicians alongside the best venues, tours, festivals and industry professionals who are an integral part of Australia’s music scene at a local and national level.

The National Award categories are as follows:

Live Act of the Year
The Heatseeker Award (best up-and-coming band/artist over the last 12 months)
Live Voice of the Year
Live Guitarist of the Year
Live Bassist of the Year
Live Drummer of the Year
Live Instrumentalist of the Year

Best Live Music Event in Australia
The NLMA (Industry Achievement)

International Live Achievement – Solo
International Live Achievement – Group

Hip Hop Live Act of the Year
DJ or Electronic Live Act of the Year
Hard Rock or Metal Live Act of the Year
Roots Live Act of the Year (includes Country, Americana, Folk, Blues and Roots)
R&B or Soul Live Act of the Year

Meanwhile, the State and Territory Award categories include:

Live Act of the Year
Live Voice of the Year
Venue of the Year
Live Music Event of the Year
The AAA (All Ages Achievement) Award (NSW only)

All awards are chosen by a judging panel comprised of 100 members from around the country, with the exception of two additional Public Voted Awards:

Live Act of the Year: The People’s Choice
Live Voice of the Year: The People’s Choice

The National Live Music Awards will be held at venues across Australia on Tuesday, 29th November, with the National Awards handed out at a Gala event at Sydney’s The Basement as part of ARIA Week.

Tickets to all events, bar the Gala event at The Basement, will be free and made available through online RSVP later this month.
